Glenoaks Canyon shares the lush and bucolic nature of it's neighbor, Chevy Chase Canyon, but this intimate box canyon has a distinct family orientation. Daybreak and twilight are prime walking hours and people of all ages stroll along the quiet side streets.
Glenoaks Park feels like a private getaway for just the residents, tucked away, as it is, far from the rest of the city. There are basketball and tennis courts, children's play area and even a wading pool. An active homeowners association keeps watch over the rights and issues unique to the neighborhood.
The homes in this area are mostly modest character homes built in the 30's and 40's and abundant oaks and sycamore lend a real storybook flavor that is cherished by the residents.
Glendale Adventist Medical Center lies at the mouth of the Canyon.
At the very end of the canyon is the Scholl Canyon Golf Course and Driving Range. In my brief golfing career (it lasted 2 months, in which I discovered there was not enough time in the universe to devote myself properly to this game. I shall come back to golf when I have more time...), I loved this place the best. Awesome views, tricked out ball dispenser machine, very nice staff. And the views!
